A first look at the cast

Meet the People

Big personalities. Familiar faces. Meet the kids, families, and neighbors who make Cricket Creek a town full of stories.

A work in progress: these portraits and introductions are early drafts. We’re still developing the characters, and their designs and stories may change.

Zippy Fletcher with very long chestnut waves, green eyes, a green cardigan, and a Star of David necklace.

Zippy Fletcher

Creative, clever, and just a little goofy, eleven-year-old Zippy notices the details. Her friendly encouragement and knowing smile make her a welcome companion for an everyday adventure.

Benny Brown with very fair skin, blue eyes, messy dark-brown hair, a goofy grin, and a blue graphic shirt.

Benny Brown

Benjamin—Benny to his friends—is eleven, playful, and easily swept up in a mystery. His big goofy grin and boundless enthusiasm sometimes get a little ahead of his thinking.

CJ Smith, a painted portrait with a small crooked smile, swept brown hair, and a blue hoodie.

CJ Smith

Caleb “CJ” Smith is eleven: smart, curious, bold, and ready for adventure. The oldest of the Smith kids, he’s big brother to Hannah, Micah, and Clara.

Jimmy Searcy with fair skin, blue eyes, spiky black hair, a raised eyebrow, a smug smirk, and a dark jacket.

Jimmy Searcy

Eleven-year-old Jimmy loves gadgets and has plenty of confidence in his own ideas. A little snobby and drawn to conspiracy theories, he often wears the smirk of someone who thinks he’s figured it all out.

Hannah Smith, a painted portrait with a gap-toothed grin, brown braids, and blue bows.

Hannah Smith

Six-year-old Hannah brings a lively, cheerful presence to the Smith family. With her two blue-ribboned braids and bright, open smile, she’s very much her own person alongside CJ, Micah, and Clara.

Micah Smith, a painted portrait laughing with crinkled eyes, tousled brown hair, and a green shirt.

Micah Smith

Four-year-old Micah is full of energy, enthusiasm, and a love of play. The younger brother of CJ and Hannah and older brother of Clara, he brings an excited grin to the Smith household.

Clara Smith, a painted toddler portrait looking upward with a small smile, short curls, and a pink clip.

Clara Smith

At two, Clara is the youngest Smith child. Soft curls, a little pink bow, and a sweet, slightly shy expression distinguish this toddler from her three older siblings.

Otis Fletcher with gray hair, a trimmed mustache, reading glasses, brown vest, and cream apron with pens and a notebook.

Otis Fletcher

Wise, patient, and quietly humorous, Otis is a reassuring mentor with a personality all his own. Behind his reading glasses is a gentle observer who offers kindness without making a fuss.

Mrs. Evelyn Simms with gray eyes, a rose-patterned headscarf covering her hair, a cream blouse, and a green cardigan.

Mrs. Evelyn Simms

Sam Brown with green eyes, neatly side-combed dark hair, a trimmed full beard, a playful grin, and a tan overshirt.

Caleb Smith with tousled light-brown hair, brown eyes, a farm tan, a short rugged beard, and a plaid flannel shirt.

Rebecca Smith with pinned-back light-brown hair, brown eyes, a welcoming smile, a country blouse, and a simple apron.

Rebecca Smith

Rebecca is Caleb’s wife and the mother of CJ, Hannah, Micah, and Clara. Nurturing, playful, wise, and strong-willed, she pairs patient guidance with the quiet determination that helps ground a lively household.

Rabbi David Levin with gray eyes, a long salt-and-pepper beard, a kind knowing smile, a dark suit, and a black hat.

Rabbi David Levin

A warm storyteller and thoughtful teacher, Rabbi David shares his knowledge of Scripture, Jewish history, Hebrew, and tradition in ways children can understand. Patience, scholarship, and a gentle sense of humor all have a place in his guidance.

Mayor John Harps with a stocky build, gray-and-brown hair, blue eyes, a mustache, and a slightly rumpled blazer.

Mayor John Harps

Mayor Harps genuinely wants the best for Cricket Creek. Good-hearted and sometimes a little flustered, he takes his responsibilities seriously—even when his efforts to stay professional become unintentionally funny.
